Direct Donations are Always Welcome!

The Merriam PTO Board has received several inquiries from parents wondering how to make a direct donation – and possibly a matching corporate gift – before the end of 2008. We typically make a direct donation appeal in April; however, direct gifts to the PTO are welcome at any time of the year!

If you wish to make a tax-deductible contribution before the end of 2008, please mail your check, payable to Merriam Community PTO, to Merriam Community PTO, c/o Merriam Elementary School, 11 Charter Road, Acton, MA 01720, Attn: Lisa Pratt, PTO Treasurer. Please indicate “direct donation” in the memo field at the bottom left of your check.

The Merriam Community Parent Teacher Organization is a non-profit corporation, or 501c3. This means you may be eligible to have your donation to the PTO matched by your employer. More than 1,000 companies match employee gifts to non-profit organizations. Please check with your personnel office today to see if your donation could be doubled (or even tripled) by a matching gift from your employer. For a document verifying our 501c3 status, please contact Lisa Pratt.

All donations are confidential. Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Donna German, PTO Co-Chair                     Kim McCormick, PTO Co-Chair

Lisa Pratt, PTO Treasurer                     Tricia Forrester, PTO Secretary

scrip is here

The Merriam PTO is pleased to offer Merriam families a new “cashless” fundraising program – the Scrip Shopping Card Program.  This is a program where you can purchase gift cards to many of the places where you already shop or eat, at no additional cost to you, and the Merriam PTO earns a percentage of each card.

How do I buy cards?  It is a very simple procedure. Simply fill out the order form (click here for form) distributed in Friday mail, and then send it back to school with a check, payable to “Merriam PTO”. Your cards will be available 1-2 weeks after the deadline. We will let you know when your cards are in (you will have a choice of picking up your cards at the office or having them sent home with your child).

For more information about the SCRIP program,  click here!

Easy Money for Merriam:

Cashless Fundraising Donelan’s Receipts

We’re excited to inform you that we are participating in a program that allows us to earn FREE school equipment.  From September 1, 2009 to March 31, 2010, we will be able to turn cash register receipts from DONELAN’S into valuable and important educational equipment free of charge.  Last year, we surpassed our goal of 100,000 cash value points.  Merriam selected an Azden Sound System and office supplies.  This year our goal is to turn in 115,000 cash value points.

Please shop at Donelan’s, save your receipts dated September 1, 2009 to March 31, 2010 and send them to school with your child.  A collection box is located in the Merriam office.

If you have any questions, contact Brenda or Doug Willard at bdande@comcast.net.
