Dear Parents of Merriam Students,

It is with awe and appreciation that I thank you for the outpouring of kindness over the past few weeks. I am honored to have a scholarship in my name support the college education of a former Merriam student. The beach party complete with steel band and beach towels was a very fitting way for me to say goodbye to Merriam families. The CD was extraordinary. You are a very thoughtful community, and I am honored to have been associated with such a wonderful school for the past 15 years. Your children have provided me with many opportunities for challenges, rewards and meaning in my work. Thank you! I wish you all good health and happiness in the future.

pto event coordinators needed

Almost all PTO event and committee coordinator roles are filled for the 2008/2009 school year. So the PTO is sure to have another very successful year supporting Merriam with communication, community-building and fundraising for our classroom assistants!

We still have a few key openings -- if you enjoy coordinating, organizing, planning -- or if you have been wanting to find a more meaningful way to support our school, please consider volunteering for one of these important positions. In every case, the previous chair/coordinator has offered to support you and many key committee members will already be returning -- so this may be the best year ever to step into these positions!

Positions available: Social Committee Chair, Fall Social Coordinator, Cultural Enrichment Co-chair, Gift Book Sale Coordinator, Sixth Grade Event Coordinators (Fifth Grade parents,) School Committee Rep (can be shared) and School Council Parent Reps (Two representatives will be elected in the fall.) Important Auction positions include: Business Donation Coordinator, Publicity Coordinator and Art Coordinator.
